Southern High School Dress Code 2007-2008 Students are expected to be well groomed and appropriately dressed at all times. Any form of dress or hairstyle which is considered distractive, disruptive or contrary to good hygiene is not permitted. In addition, students are expected to comply with the following regulations: 1. Shoes MUST be worn at all times (No skate shoes, house slippers or cleats are to be worn). Clean gym shoes must be worn on the gym floor. 2. Adequate undergarments MUST be worn and COMPLETELY covered by clothing. 3. Clothing MUST cover a student's midsection and back while standing and/or sitting. 4. Shorts, dresses and skirts must be NO MORE THAN 2 INCHES above your knee. Clothing that is distressed, has rips or holes above the knee ARE PROHIBITED. Wearing tights or spandex underneath clothing that has rips or holes above the knee is also PROHIBITED. 5. All shirts, for males and females, MUST COVER THE ENTIRE SHOULDER and be tight-fitted to the underarm. All shirts must also cover the entire chest area. Any showing of cleavage WILL NOT be tolerated. 6. Clothing that is open-sided or see-thru is PROHIBITED. 7. Clothing which advertises or displays alcoholic beverages, tobacco products, illegal drugs, obscene or questionable symbols is PROHIBITED. 8. Visible body piercing other than ears is not to be worn at school or school activities. This includes tongue piercing. 9. Unnaturally colored hair that is distracting to the education process is not permitted. Examples of unnatural hair colors could include, but are not limited to, blue, green, purple, orange, etc. When a student is found to be in violation of the dress code, the student will be given a change of clothes and will remain in school. At the end of the day, the student will return the clothes he or she has been given to wear. There will be no exceptions. |
