The end of the school year is near. It feels as though school just started, and now we are preparing to close things down for the year. Recently we had Prom, which I have only heard good things about. Great job toMiss Holt and to all those who helped her bring it all together. We just held our county wide academic banquet on the 1 st, we are proud of all our 89 honorees. Mr. Dudding and the drama class’s “Variety Show” was very entertaining. Great job goes out to all the students who participated, as well as, Mr. Dudding. May 5 th-9 th was Teacher Appreciation Week or as we refer to it at Southern, Staff Appreciation Week. I want to thank our staff for all the work they do. Southern Local has a great staff, many in which go above and beyond the call of duty everyday. Again, I would like to say “Thank You” to all of you for your hard work and dedication. We still have a few important events planned for the rest of the school year. We have “Awards Day” on May 16 th and our Graduation Ceremony on May 18 th. We are also having the district–wide Relay for Life on May 19 th. This event helps raise money and awareness for the American Cancer Society. We will be offering Summer School this summer for credit recovery purposes only. If your child needs to participate in this, contact the school for more information. Also, this summer we will be mailing out our “dress code” to our students’ homes. Please check this before you begin to buy clothes for next school year. I have greatly enjoyed my first year as principal at Southern High School. I feel this year has been beneficial to me, the staff, and the students. I am looking forward to my second year and would like to thank all of you that have supported me. “Intelligence plus character that is the goal of true education.” Martin Luther King |
